Played On The Tim Corrimal Show in the USA

Big thanks to Tim Corrimal (pictured) of US podcast The Tim Corrimal Show for featuring my music on his latest show.

Tim’s show brings together a round table of the progressive political community in the District of Columbia, where they discuss politics, laugh at the political antics in the week’s newspapers, and play some progressive tunes.

In the current show, Tim and the gang play All Hail To The Market.

I hope you enjoy the tune, not to mention the thought provoking chit chat.

Gary Kaye Adds Dessie To His Set List

One of my favourite performers on the UK circuit is Yorkshire troubadour Gary Kaye (pictured). I’m delighted to let you all know that he has added my song My Name Is Dessie Warren to his set list, so fans of Gary can hear his version live very soon.

I’ve gigged with Gary a few times now, most notably at a cracking little gig at The Red Shed. Still one of my most memorable gigs. More recently Gary and I shared a bill here in Liverpool to support the very long running Leeds refuse workers strike. For the record, the workers won!

He also shares my passion for football. Indeed, he was once the official poet-in-residence at Leeds United no less. Thankfully, our football chats have always been far more amicable than those that took place between Kevin Keegan and Billy Bremner.

Well known for his fantastic sing-a-long song about the evils of Coca Cola, I’m delighted that Gary will now be singing My Name Is Dessie Warren too.

Check out my version and find out the story behind the song by clicking here. Or you can visit Gary Kaye’s Myspace too.

If any other singers want to sing my songs, please do drop me a line. I’m very keen for others to sing my songs and consider it a great honour.

Justice For The Shrewsbury 24

Sadly I can’t be there, but today there is a rally in Shrewsbury to demand justice for the trades unionists and building workers attacked by the State in the 70s.

Two were jailed, Dessie Warren and Ricky Tomlinson. The rally is an attempt to clear their names, and get a pardon.

I wrote the song My Name Is Dessie Warren before last year’s rally, where I played it in public for the first time.

You can hear the song, and read more about what happened by clicking here.

I hope the day goes well and justice moves ever closer.

Liverpool Peace & Ecology Festival

I’ll be playing as part of folk band Rich Man’s Ruin at the Liverpool Peace and Ecology Festival this weekend.

The all day festival takes place on Sunday 4th July at St Lukes Church at the top of Bold Street. (St Luke’s is better known locally as “the bombed out church” if you don’t know whereabouts I mean.)

The fun starts at 12 noon and goes on ’til 9pm, and it’s free.

We’ll be on stage just after 8pm. You can find more details and the full line-up here at indymedia. Come out and support this great annual event.
