Merry Christmas You Lovely People!!

It’s Christmas eve babe, in the drunk tank…

Well, it’s Christmas eve anyhow.

And sorry you’re right. I had no right to call you babe. I don’t know what came over me.

But nonetheless it’s Chrimbo tomorrow and this post is to wish you all a peaceful and happy one, and a great New Year.

Oh, and a present of course for all my lovely newsletter gang.

I’m going to give you an 8 track compilation album to download absolutely free.

It features tracks from all 3 of my albums, and my live performance of the protest favourite Oh Mr Cameron.

I’ll send you the link in today’s newsletter so look out for that.

If you’re not on my newsletter list and feel like a naughty boy with coal in his stocking, then please don’t. Just join up to my newsletter over there on the right of this page under my photo, and you’ll get it too!!

Do you really think I’d leave you out at Christmas. Course not.

Big hugs for all your lovely support in 2010, and big wishes for a lovely 2011 to you all.

Help the Working Class Life & Music Festival

Can you spare 10 seconds of your time to help the Working Class Life & Music Festival.

As you know, I founded and run this festival.

Our programme for 2011 is superb. It is the largest celebration of working people on the planet!

And we need it now more than ever.

We just need to let everyone know about it. And that’s where you come in.

Just 10 seconds

Don’t worry it really does take just 10 seconds.

Click this link to take you to the festival website.

You’ll see the festival’s facebook page shown on the right. Click the Like button. That’s it. That’s all you have to do.

That’s done – but if you want to do a bit more?

If you’d like to do more then I love you lots!!

There’s one extra thing you could do. Here goes…

Click the title of the festival in its facebook box. That will take you to our facebook page.

In the menu on the left there’ll be an option that says Suggest To Friends. Click that, and tell as many of your friends as you possibly can.

Thank you thank you thank you. And mega mega hugs!!

Student Protest Pics Set To Oh Mr Cameron

Big thanks to Shane Kelly for this terrific photovideo of images from the recent student protests – all set to Oh Mr Cameron.

You’ll remember that Oh Mr Cameron was written primarily by my Mum, Norma Parry, while on an anti-cuts demo in Glasgow. I threw in a chorus to finish it off and started singing it, and it’s now a staple chant at demos around the country.

Enjoy the film.

Lennon And Benn?

A big thanks to all members of my Parry soviet who have been helping me to better describe myself to those people who’ve never heard of me before.

As a result I now have a brand new strapline, as you can see from the top of the website.

“If John Lennon were a folk singer – and Tony Benn wrote his lyrics.”

That’s the one you helped me come up with.

It seems that when it came to music you were all virtually unanimous about John Lennon much to my flattered embarrassment.

I must admit I feel a bit of a twonk making any comparison between myself and Lennon!!

But I trust people will realise that in fact I’m not.

I’m just trying to paint a bit of a picture for people who encounter me for the first time so they may be bold enough to give me a bit of a listen. Or even better, book me for a show!

Same with Tony Benn. It was the only other name in the survey that came back to me with the same frequency as Lennon’s did.

You said I sound a bit like Lennon vocally (thanks!!), and you guessed rightly that Tony Benn is someone who has inspired me.

So I’ve kind of joined them up in this too-clever-by-half fashion.

Do you think it works? Does it give a decentish flavour of what you’d expect from my music? Let me know.

P.S. All those who replied to my survey to get me to this point will be getting my complete back catalogue signed by me as a mega thankyou to you all. After Chrimbo though if that’s ok. Big thanks again to those who helped me out.

My Final Gig Of The Year

I am delighted to announce that I am playing my final gig of 2010 at the Liverpool Acoustic Live Xmas Party on Friday. Don’t miss it.

As well as myself there is a stunning line up.

The folky pop of Jessica’s Ghost, the hilarious antics of comedy duo Jollyboat, a rare outing for LAL maestro Graham Holland that is not to be missed (very funny!), and Stuart Anthony’s Long Lost Band.

It all takes place at The View Two Gallery, 23 Mathew Street, Liverpool on Friday 17th December.

Doors open at 8pm, and everything kicks off at 8.30pm.

Get your tickets here for just £4 in advance or £5 on the door (though this night is guaranteed to sell out quickly in my view).
