Launch Gig Streamed Live From This Website

Album Launch Gig at The CasaAmazing news this, and a real experiment for me.

But the launch gig on Friday 28th August 2009 will be beamed live from The Casa to this website.

Now its an experiment, and we’ve never done it before, but we’re going to give it a go.

There’s a chance it won’t work – that’s the nature of experiments. But we expect that it will.

So if you’re too far away to get to the gig in person, then don’t fret.

Put the kettle on, get yourself a nice cup of tea, and settle down in front of your PC to listen in live.

Click here to go to the Live Stream page (although there’s now a Live Stream link on the top menu of the site too).

The stream will start just before 8pm on Friday when the first act will be on stage.

Big thanks to Nigel from Madbouncydogs for doing the streaming.

Big thanks to Graham and all from Liverpool Acoustic Live for co-hosting the launch gig.

For those who can get there in person, its at The Casa, 29 Hope Street, Liverpool at 7.30pm on Friday 28 August 2009 and is completely FREE to get in. Early entry is advised.

First Review For New Album

We Can Make The World Stop CD

We Can Make The World Stop CD

I’m happy to have received my first review for We Can Make The World Stop.

I’m even happier that it has come from within the labour movement.

The reviewer is Kate Richardson who is Vice President of Manchester Trades Council.

And with TUC Conference taking place here in Liverpool next month, here’s an interesting bit of history.

The very first TUC Congress was called by Manchester and Salford Trades Council back in 1868. So there you go.

Here is Kate’s review of We Can Make The World Stop:

“The album is stunning.

I love the hardline politics.

I love the way you have unashamedly tackled quite difficult subjects like women’s oppression and queer-bashing in such a sensitive and compelling way.

Waiting For The Lovers keeps bringing a tear to my eye.”

If you want to hear Waiting For The Lovers so you know which track Kate refers to, simply press the play button below.

(This party is in partnership with the fab Liverpool Acoustic Live event).

Or simply toddle along to the shops and buy it there. It is being distributed by Proper Records, the UK’s largest independent record distributor, so you should be able to get hold of it anywhere.

Big thanks in particular go to Stuart Thompson, Barry Briercliffe, Jon Withnall, Sharon Latham and Howard Northover, and also to Robb Johnson at Irregular Records, and all at Proper Music Distribution, as well as Graham Holland at Liverpool Acoustic Live.

Two Weeks Until Launch Gig

20090828-compositeWayhay! There’s just two weeks to go until the launch of my new album We Can Make The World Stop. Listen to the album here.

The launch party is being run in partnership with the fabulous Liverpool Acoustic Live event, whose brainchild and engine is Graham Holland from the Liverpool Acoustic website.

(You can catch his site at www.liverpoolacoustic.co.uk).

It’s totally FREE so come along and join in the fun.

I’ll be doing an extended set of music with a host of my musical chums.

And I’ll be ably supported by two other tremendous acts – Stuart Todd and Vinny T Spen.

The gig/party takes place at The Casa in Hope Street. The Casa is the home of the sacked Liverpool dockworkers and they normally do a few drinks offers of a Friday night.

Get there for 7.30pm because we’ll be starting at 8pm sharp.

Oh and before I go, it’s my Mum’s birthday today. So if you’re reading this: Happy Birthday Ma!! :-)
