AFC Liverpool Win The Vodkat Trophy – A Pictorial

A moment of history happened tonight.

AFC Liverpool, the club I founded last year on socialist principles, won our first trophy in our very first season.

If you didn’t hear the official cup final song that I wrote and released last week, then check it out here

In dreadful weather, Dean Thurston scored the winner in a 1-0 victory against Padiham.

It was a nice touch too that on the day after the Hillsborough anniversary, Dean ran to the travelling Kop and kissed not his badge, but the number 96 on the front of his shirt.

Here are a few pictures of the night (thanks to Sharon Latham of Dynamo Photography).

I looked frankly ridiculous for most of the night as I wore my lucky red hat.

I bought it outside the Millenium Stadium in 2001 before the FA Cup final between Liverpool and Arsenal which we won 2-1.

I then took it to Germany with me for the UEFA Cup Final – another victory.

I then saved it for the European Cup Semi Final against Chelsea, and then it travelled with me to the final in Istanbul. More glory!

I didn’t get a ticket to Athens and so inevitably Liverpool lost. No lucky hat – no cup final win.

So if you wonder why I look a bit like Bill and Ben in some of the photos, it was because AFC Liverpool needed my hat.

It remains undefeated!

Well done to Derek and the lads. He has delivered us a trophy within 8 months of our competitive life – an astonishing achievement on the pitch.

Enjoy the pics.

That’s my Mum by the way. She’s pulling a funny face on purpose. Just in case you think that’s how she normally looks haha!

Here’s me with the trophy – and hat attacked hair.

Me with manager Derek Goulding – and the trophy. Two more below to finish off.
