Alun Parry 1 Hour BBC Special

bbc-logo-21217808Get by your radios on Sunday (26th October) at 4pm.

BBC Radio Merseyside are broadcasting a one hour special on me, my music and my politics.

I was interviewed by broadcasting legend Stan Ambrose for the BBC’s Folkscene show.

For those who are outside of Merseyside, you can hear it online by visiting http://www.bbc.co.uk/radiomerseyside/on-air on Sunday at 4pm.

I hope you enjoy it. I’ve not heard it myself yet so I’ll be tuning in with you in the hope I said some vaguely sensible things.

    Hi Holger

    Great to hear from you.

I hope you can get it with that link. Be careful of the times too if you’re in Europe because our clocks changed last night to winter time.

How did you hear about me all the way in Germany by the way?

    Al

Thanks for alerting us to the programme, Alun. It made great listening and was a wonderful tribute to your musicianship and your empathy with people’s struggles. Venceremos. Dave Houlton

    Hi Alun,

Listened to it on the iPlayer here – sometimes (just sometimes) the internet can be a good thing… http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p028km5w

You came across as the lovely person that I met at the “Wee Folk Club” in Edinburgh with strong humanitarian and egalitarian beliefs that I wish a lot more people did enjoy!

I recognized a few of the songs from that gig (“I want Rosa to stay”) but also loved the other ones!

I just wish they had given you two hours instead of one – I didn’t want the programme to end and had the feeling you had so much more to tell us…

    Holger

PS: We got talking after the above-mentioned gig. I am an LFC fan, too (for my sins), and lived in Liverpool (Radnor Place in Tuebrook) in the eighties for a year.

PPS: Your CDs still get played regularly here.

line 4: that should read “SHARE” instead of “enjoy”
    Silly me!

Ah yes Holger!! I remember you very well indeed!! I gave you an LFC pen I think.

I really enjoyed our chat and was delighted to learn that you were a Liverpool fan.

Wasn’t that a really lovely night. One of my fave gigs that was.

Thanks loads for keeping in touch. It means a lot and I’m really glad you’re getting so much enjoyment from the CDs. Big hugs.

    Al
