Alun’s Weekly Podcast (27 August 2017)

In this week’s episode I share a listener tip on how to get free audio books.

I explain why 320 million people find me (and quite possibly you) intelligent and dashing.

I talk about the writings of self help teacher Byron Katie. Katie’s work teaches how to end suffering by letting go of distressing thoughts. But what was my experience of it?

Then I play you out with the Song Of The Week (and for a change I didn’t write it!)

    Great rendition of Ruby Tuesday.

Letting go of distressing thoughts is maybe tougher for those of us without religious beliefs, in that we find forgiveness more difficult. But, if we can do it, it is empowering & allows us to move on. So we need to do it, not for those whom we perceive to have wronged us, but for ourselves. Personally, I have never managed it.

Keep the faith, Al. Thanks for another good podcast.

    Dear Al,
thanks for podcast; listened to a bit more this week. Re reaching for higher notes, have you tried hearing intervals (thirds, fourths, fifths, octaves, etc) in your head, before actually singing them? For some people this can be a really helpful exercise, I have done it myself, and it works, say 7 times out of ten. Also, aurally Imagining the note a semitone, or even a tone Above the one you’re actually reaching for, and then dropping down onto it, when Actually singing out the note(same/similar thing really) can also often help. Apols if I’m telling you anything you’ve actually known for ages, and already do! All the best, Rica
