Woody Guthrie Inspired New Song Demo – Give Me Feedback

Woody Guthrie Folk ClubSo it’s Monday morning here in Liverpool. An envelope arrives postmarked the USA. Oohhh. I save it as it looks exciting. I cook my breakfast, all the while it enticing me from the kitchen table.

After breakfast, I open it. Inside is a greetings card. On the front a drawing by Woody Guthrie. I open it and realise it is a card from Woody’s daughter Nora and her partner Michael thanking me for the Woody 100 celebrations last year and saying “keep doing the good work with your woody folk club.”

Even more poignant, a quote from Woody is printed inside: “If ever there was a time to have a good time, this is the time.”

This kind of sums up my whole philosophy of life. I’m always telling my friends to find joy right now, to realign themselves with their passions. So to see that so starkly from Woody himself got me writing a song instantly.

It’s a demo, it’s rough, and moreover it may even be a work in progress but still – have a listen, and give me some feedback.

Fantastic sound and great sentiments. We could all learn something from this notion. Great work and I quite like the rawness of this early recording.

What a fantastic song! Well done! Woody would have been proud of you. I love it.

Nice one, Alun. I’m mindful of Woody’s comment about hating songs that do us down. For sure this one does us up ! Love it in its raw state .
