The River Runs Through It
The great thing about the internet is that you can meet up with people, albeit cyberly, that geography means you simply wouldn’t have known otherwise.
So it is with Kay from Wales who became a fan of my music via Twitter, and who I’ve had many a good old chinwag (or keyboardwag?) with many times since.
I heard some sad news from Kay recently that she had lost her Dad.
She sent me this press cutting soon afterwards that I thought I would share with you. If you click it you’ll see it full sized.
It appears that her Dad, Cliff Prout, was a campaigner and champion of the environment, as well as a community activist who accessed a million pounds to make his part of the world even more beautiful.
Such was his impact that this Leasowe lad will now have a river walk specially designed to remember and commemorate his life and work.
It can often feel that a lifetime is such a short and passing collection of time, so it is always inspiring to hear about people who have used their life creating a legacy for others to enjoy.
Kay and the rest of Cliff’s family must be deeply proud that his life will continue to be celebrated and enjoyed in this way.
He made his world quite literally a more beautiful place, so no surprise that his community are so keen to honour him.
Perhaps John and Paul said it best: And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

That’s just perfect, thank you for such a warm appreciation of our Dad, Alun. Kay’s made of the same stuff! Aren’t we lucky!
Take jolly good care, dear chapXX
